I listened to a documentary about Bob Dylan. It ended with these wise words from him:
Life is not about finding yourself or finding anything. Life is about creating yourself and creating things.
There’s a lot of truth in that. If we’re on a quest to “find ourselves”, when will we actually succeed? Tomorrow? Next year? After 150 drafts?
The truth is, that kind of mindset will never lead to satisfaction. It’s an endless search that goes nowhere but to disappointment.
I can’t get no satisfaction, ’cause I try and I try and I try and I try.
We create ourselves through life, through experiences, through both success and failure. We create ourselves by showing up and saying yes instead of no. We create ourselves every time we write a blog post and hit Publish to share it with the rest of the world.
We create ourselves by shipping more, not less.
