The creative breath

The first snow has started falling here in Stockholm. A lot of it.

It’s like winter is making up for lost time. Like it’s been breathing in, and now it’s breathing it all out.

I feel it’s very much the same with creativity. It’s not a continuous exhalation. It comes in waves.

Breathing in, breathing out...

I find myself forgetting this time and again. I fool myself into believing it should be a steady flow, just pouring out all the time.

Then, when I’m in a period of inhalation, I start thinking something must be wrong. I was in this flow of creation, and suddenly it’s not there.

“Maybe I’m not a blogger after all. At least not anymore. Maybe it’s time for a change”.

And then, after a couple of days, weeks, or even months, it’s back. The outward movement. The creative exhalation.

Recharged, reborn, and released.

Breathing in, breathing out...
