Interests

Besides blogging and writing, I have a handful of other hobbies that keep me happy, inspired, and curious.

Reading, photography, music, and movies are right up there among my favorites, along with traveling. Here are some recent updates from my list of interests.

Books

When it comes to books, I prefer fiction, especially crime novels. I’m usually a paperback kind of reader, but my Kindle tags along when I travel or when English titles are hard to find here in Sweden.

Every now and then I'll go for an audiobook too, often a biography, but a good old physical book is still what pulls me in the most.

Here's the last book I read and what I thought about it:

Movies

I love watching movies. I don’t really have a single favorite genre, though my top three films all happen to be science fiction: 2001: A Space Odyssey, Interstellar, and Contact.

I watch most movies on streaming services, which is wonderfully convenient, but nothing beats going to the cinema. I try to go at least once a month, mostly for the atmosphere and that feeling of “this is where I am now and there’s no pause button I can press”.

Music

Music has always been an important part of my life, both listening to it and playing it myself. For ten years, playing drums in a band was my occupation. This song is still our most famous.

I listen to all kinds of music and love discovering new artists and songs. Nick Drake and the Swedish band Kent are among my favorites. When it comes to a specific song, I consider "The Highwayman" by Jimmy Webb to be the greatest song ever made.

Photography

As for photography, I like keeping it simple. I shoot with my phone. Nature is usually my subject, partly because it comes with the job, but I also enjoy capturing architecture and people whenever the moment presents itself.
