It is what it isn't
An intern joined me during the house inspections today. It's always interesting. A different experience every time.
This person was very alert and interested, asking a lot of good questions, eager to learn more.
At other times it's the opposite. Someone who's clearly not interested at all, always with an excuse to leave early.
And sometimes, that latter person isn't an intern. It's an employee who's clearly lost all interest in their job.
You'll find them anywhere. The waitress, the doctor. Different titles, same look: zombie.
Just existing. That's not life.
Of course, sometimes we don't have much of a choice. But more often, we do. We just get comfortable telling ourselves that "it is what it is”.
The reality is that we usually have the power to change our lives. We just have to stop pretending that we don't.
