Just write

I listened to a podcast about Lena Dunham. I knew nothing about her, had never seen any of her work, and probably never will. But the episode ended with these words of wisdom from her:

I don’t want to tell you what to do, but I know it works, so I’ll say it as plainly as I can: Just keep writing, keep writing.

It’s so true. Just keep writing and writing and writing…

It doesn’t matter how you do it, just keep doing it. The same mindset can be applied to almost any kind of creative work, even if it’s hard to write a symphony on a napkin.

A writing relationship

Just as important, if not more so, do it because you love it. Like a part of you is missing if you don’t. Like it’s the end of a beautiful and important relationship if you stop.

There’s nothing wrong with having dreams and ambitions, but if success becomes your main goal, you’ll never be satisfied, even if you “make it”.

No matter why we write, let’s keep doing it, again and again and again.
