Name or nickname

Since you already know my name, I thought I could tell you the background of my last name. As you might have guessed, it’s not a very common Swedish name. In fact, it’s only my family and relatives who have it.

My dad came up with the name before I was born. His original last name was Karlsson, which is very common in Sweden. After having lived several years in Canada, he got tired of having to spell it out every time. So, when he got back home, he proposed to the rest of the family to have something “more international”. They agreed, and that’s how Birming was born.

Where in the world I blog from

Mostly from where I live, in Stockholm, Sweden. But I also love traveling, and the blog always tags along (one of the many nice benefits of having a portable hobby). My favorite destination is Thailand, and my favorite place there is Chiang Mai. I keep returning almost every year.

What my blog is mostly about

Many of my posts are about blogging/writing and creativity in general. But I also write a lot about everyday stories: places I visit, people I meet, and moments that linger. I just checked my stats page, and it said “Total posts: 659”. If you go through them all, my guess is that the majority is about thoughts on life.
