Not what I’d feared
When was the last time you thought, “not what I’d hoped”?
It happens all the time, right? A book, movie, restaurant, cafe, party, spa, trip, hairdresser…
We have expectations, and the experience doesn’t live up to what we imagined it would be.
The same is true for things we fear. The speech, meeting, verdict, phone call, interview, confrontation, medical test…
We imagine the worst. Then the day comes, and it’s not nearly as bad as we had thought.
Maybe we’d be a little less anxious, a little happier, if we told ourselves “not what I’d feared” as often as we tell ourselves “not what I’d hoped”.
