Time and transformation

Every time I arrive here in Chiang Mai, some new places have appeared, while others have vanished. It's a constant reminder of the impermanence that characterizes life itself.

What can arise can also cease.

This applies not only to the exciting new cafes and shops that pop up but also to the challenges we face. Just as a beloved restaurant might close its doors, difficult experiences eventually lose their hold on us.

They arise, and they cease.

Recognizing this natural cycle of change and impermanence allows us to appreciate the present moment even more fully, to savor the good while it lasts and to weather the storms with the knowledge that they too shall pass.
