I watched the movie Hammarskjöld: Fight for Peace about Dag Hammarskjöld, the former Secretary-General of the United Nations.

Some scenes included old archival footage. For example, when all of Sweden held a moment of silence to honor him.

It struck me how quiet it was.

A moment of silence is always quiet, of course, but it was a stillness that has been lost in today’s society. It was a stillness that didn’t involve waiting to post status updates, send messages, or share photos and videos.

It was truly quiet.
