When the world is your teacher
One of today's clients told me that his family would love to travel abroad, but it's too expensive. The current rules surrounding compulsory schooling in Sweden cause prices to skyrocket during school breaks.
I don't have children myself, but I said that I thought it was a shame, because traveling itself is very educational. He wholeheartedly agreed.
Of course, schooling is important, but sometimes rules can become a bit too rigid. Considering today's technology, it should be possible to make them more flexible.
I have many great memories of family trips from my childhood: discovering new places, encountering foreign cultures and people, exploring languages, and witnessing traditions. Two weeks in Morocco felt as educational as a whole school term back home in Sweden.
These early experiences taught me about adaptability, cultural awareness, and problem-solving in ways a classroom never could.
Traveling is learning, both about yourself and others.
The world is a great teacher.
