Writing while the usual self is asleep

I don’t have any specific routine for when to write. I usually do it when it feels right, when there’s less risk of being interrupted.

When I’m working, that means in the evening. The job phone is off, grocery shopping is done, and preparations for the next day are finished.

When I’m on vacation, like now, I have the luxury of doing it whenever I feel like it. The moment inspiration strikes, or before the day has even started, like with this post.

There’s a certain freshness about writing in the morning. An empty mind, free of new impressions and experiences.

It feels, hmm... lighter. Like it’s more honest. More you, unconditioned.

I wouldn’t say it’s “better”, and I wouldn’t want it strictly scheduled. I believe no particular routine is the best way to keep writing a habit.

I just find it interesting how that emptiness expresses itself.

Morning writing, while the usual self is still asleep.
