The backseat blogger
We all have our reasons for blogging. It might be...
- ...part of a strategy to promote products or services.
- ...for personal pleasure with readers being a nice bonus.
- ...to make ourselves a name and grow the list of followers.
And sometimes it’s a mix with a little bit of everything. All blogging, but with a different approach and purpose. Not good or bad, honest or false. Just different.
I have a feeling that most people reading this are in the same category as myself: 2. Blogging for the joy of it and feeling grateful if others appreciate it.
Then there’s a fourth player, and it’s a cunning one. It’s so deceptive that we often don’t even notice it ourselves. But we can feel it, and it doesn’t feel good.
It’s so clever that it’s not even a category in itself. And it’s not a good deliberate mix either. It’s number two behind the wheel, while number three leans forward from the back seat and won’t stop talking.
Always comparing and evaluating, never quite satisfied: “This lane is too slow. You should’ve taken another road. Why aren’t we there yet?”
If we start doubting our blogging, maybe it's time to be truly honest with ourselves. When we look in the rearview mirror, is anyone looking back?
If so, it's time to make a decision: work together or go separate ways.
