Evil endless edits

No matter how much I test the themes I create locally, there are always new insights as soon as they go live. A change of color, some tweaking when it comes to spacing or sizes, another detail added or one removed.

It doesn’t matter how “real” the test environment is, going live brings new realizations. It’s like it’s too safe to elaborate behind closed doors. Things don’t matter the way they do in reality.

Same thing goes for writing. You can sit in your chamber and endlessly edit a text. Once it’s published, that’s when it hits you what could use a little polish.

A personal suggestion when it comes to writing, though, compared to designing. Skip making any minor edits once the text is published. Learn from it, live with it, and let those new lessons influence your future writing.

Why? Because there will be no end to your urge to edit. There will always be something that could be a little better, and this behavior will haunt your drafts as well.

It’s good as is. Lessons learned. Move on.
